Oli claims that nature conservation is the first priority of the UML
Kathmandu.CPN-UML Chairman K.P. Sharma Oli has stated that Nepal has not received a fair evaluation for its contribution to environmental protection.
Speaking at the launch of a resource book on forest, environment, and climate change, Oli said that the UML's politics is not solely focused on power and elections, but is also geared towards the protection of humanity, the environment, and the overall ecosystem.
He said, "Our first loyalty is to the countrymen and humanity. We are not just limited to elections or government; we have a serious focus on all aspects necessary for the human race."
He reiterated the UML party's commitment to the environment, forests, wildlife, and the creatures dependent on nature.Stating that a large part of Nepal's territory is covered by forest, Oli expressed the view that the conservation policy for the sustainable management of wildlife should only be advanced according to the capacity of the area.
"We should only conserve the number of tigers that our forests can sustain. We should not get carried away; if we do, tigers will not count people," he said.
Raising the issue of environmental imbalance and climate injustice, Oli commented that the economic burden borne by the countries protecting the environment and the benefits gained by the countries spreading pollution are unfair.
"We are saving the environment, but we are bearing poverty. We have to buy and use oil, and it is not justice for this country that those who pollute the environment get oxygen for free," he said.
Oli emphasized the need to prioritize the ecosystem in policymaking for a safe world, a safe earth, and a safe human future.
