Premier Hosts NPL-Themed Math Auction Event in Collaboration with Embark UnMath

Kathmandu: Embark UnMath, in partnership with Premier International IB Continuum School, hosted an innovative mathematics learning session on November 21, where students participated in a live mock cricket auction inspired by the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season 2. 

The event blended the excitement of sports with strategic mathematical thinking, giving students a real-world experience of numbers in action.

The session brought together 60 students, three teachers, and special guest Bipin Acharya from the Chitwan Rhinos, who joined online to share professional insights on player selection strategies. 

Through this dynamic experience, students explored how mathematical reasoning influences real-world decisions in professional sports. 

They applied statistical analysis, budget allocation, probability, and strategic planning to build balanced teams within financial limits.

Speaking about the session, Divesh Bathija, Co-Founder of Embark UnMath, said:

“Math is the key component for every franchise team to ensure they have the right number of players with the perfect blend of skills. Without math and strategic planning, effective decision-making becomes impossible. That was the main highlight of the session.”

Students actively engaged with mathematical concepts while experiencing the pressure and excitement of a live auction environment.

One student shared,
“In this mock auction, we learned about taking calculated risks, making smart investments, and managing our group and players effectively. It also showed us how much research and preparation go into making strong decisions. It was truly a memorable experience.”

Another student added,
“This session helped us strengthen our math, business, and decision-making skills. We used critical thinking to plan our bidding strategy and understand team-building from a mathematical point of view.”
