Kathmandu - The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) celebrated its 22nd Establishment Day by lighting lamps at the Swayambhu Buddhist Stupa.
In the program held on Saturday morning, the officials and members of the working committee led by the association's President, Mahesh Kumar Shrestha, lit 108 lamps, praying for peace and prosperity.
On the occasion, Association President Shrestha stated that there is a need for unity among non-resident Nepalis at this time and informed that efforts are being made for this.
President Shrestha mentioned that the Gen Z movement on Bhadra 23-24 (approx. September 8-9) caused extensive damage to the country and called for unity in national reconstruction.
During the program, Binod Kunwar, a member of the NRNA High-Level Committee, emphasized the need for everyone to abandon personal stubbornness and work together in unity.
Vice President Bishwashdip Tigela urged everyone to unite and focus on the prosperity of Nepal and the Nepali people, as the role of NRNA has become even more important in the current context.
Association Treasurer Thakur Dhungana informed that the NRNA has been continuing its reconstruction work after the Gen Z movement, adding that the reconstruction of the Traffic Control Room in Baggi Khana is in the final stage.
Operating with the core principle of "Once a Nepali, Always a Nepali," the NRNA, established on October 11, 2003, has branches in more than 80 countries.
The association has also organized a tea reception program in Baggi Khana on Saturday, coinciding with NRNA Day. Similarly, there is a program to light lamps at the Arati site in Pashupati on Saturday evening.
