Kathmandu: Actor and director Nikhil Upreti has left for India to begin the shooting of his dream project, Acharya. On Tuesday, the production team, including Nikhil, departed from Kathmandu to West Bengal.

The first phase will take place in Duars, followed by Bagdora, Siliguri, and Thakurganj. Nikhil said, “The second phase will be shot in Mumbai, Nasik, and Jharkhand, and the third phase will take place in Nepal. We aim to complete the entire filming within 60 days.”

Nikhil will play the lead role, with other actors including Purnika Sijapati, Pramod Agrahari, Kameshwar Chaurasiya, and Bishal Pahari. Reports suggest some well-known actors from Bollywood and South Indian cinema will also appear. On being asked, Nikhil said, “Some surprises related to Acharya are still under wraps, and everything will be revealed in due course.”

Nikhil has described Acharya as a world-class action film. Actress Sanchita Luintel will make her debut as a choreographer, working on a song in both the Nepali and Hindi versions.

This will be Nikhil’s second film as a director, after making his directorial debut with Bhairav in 2015. Nikhil is known in the Nepali film industry as an action star.
