Youth Demand New Faces and Fresh Politics in Nepal
Kathmandu: Recently, young people have expressed their diminishing trust in the so-called “old” political parties. Following the Gen Z movement, they believe it is time to give new political parties a chance. According to reactions gathered by Nepal News Bank from several youths, the country needs new ideas, new faces, and real development—things that, in their view, are not possible through the old parties.
Narayan Humagai, who works at a shop in Basantapur, described politics as chaotic and said that people have already witnessed the work of old parties. He emphasized that after the Gen Z movement, it is necessary to bring new forces to power and give new parties a turn. He also noted that electoral uncertainty and a weak governance system have reduced public trust.
Similarly, Gen Z member Sujan Tamang remarked that both leaders and the public are in a sluggish state. He pointed out that politicians behave differently in front of microphones compared to their actual work behind the scenes. He stressed that the Gen Z generation should support the development of the country.
Another Gen Z youth, Manoj Chaudhary, also said that development has not been possible due to the same leadership repeating itself for years. He highlighted discrepancies between politicians’ words and actions, weak laws, and the lack of real change. They all emphasized that the upcoming elections should provide an opportunity for a capable new generation.
