Nepal’s New PM Karki Vows to End Corruption and Ensure Good Governance

Kathmandu : Newly appointed Prime Minister Sushila Karki, after assuming office at Singha Durbar today, directed senior officials to work decisively to end corruption, ensure good governance, and promote economic equality.
She emphasized that her government serves the aspirations of the youth and aims to hand over power to a newly elected parliament within six months.
PM Karki highlighted the aftermath of recent unrest, noting destruction of public property, security vehicles, and vital records, and stressed that those responsible must be investigated and held accountable.
She urged the use of national resources for compensation and reconstruction and called for collective cooperation, avoiding blame.
Chief Secretary Eknarayan Aryal noted the challenge of restoring damaged government offices and security facilities, emphasizing prioritized reconstruction with proper budgeting.
Karki was appointed interim Prime Minister on September 12, following the unrest on September 8 and 9, and took her oath in the newly constructed Ministry of Home Affairs building.
