Lawmaker Bohora Urges Government to Track and Insure Nepali Workers in India

Kathmandu: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Member of Parliament Dipak Raj Bohora has demanded a provision to document parliamentary proceedings even when spoken in other languages. Speaking at Wednesday's House of Representatives meeting, he shared that since he was elected from Kanchanpur-2, he wished to speak in the Doteli language.

He said, "I love the Doteli language. I wanted to speak in Doteli. However, I just found out the other day when my colleague Manish Jha spoke in Maithili that it does not get documented; from now on, let it be documented in parliament."

He requested that if the parliament secretariat lacks manpower, a provision should be made allowing MPs themselves to submit the documentation. Furthermore, he mentioned that many citizens of the Sudurpashchim Province are forced to live in India due to employment or the process of going abroad.

He noted that many people from Sudurpashchim are in India either for foreign employment or because they cannot come to Kathmandu to complete the procedures to go abroad.

He stated, "Many people from Sudurpashchim are in India. Whether for foreign employment or because they couldn't come to Kathmandu to go abroad, they are in India. Do those people have labor permits or insurance? The government does not even have data on how many Nepalis are in India."

Pointing out that Nepali workers in India lack labor permits and insurance arrangements, he stated that the government does not even possess accurate data on the Nepalis residing there. He emphasized the need for the government to become serious about the condition and safety of Nepali workers in India.
