Nepali Congress Must Be Reborn, Not Just Reformed: Deu Prasad Limbu
Kathmandu – Deu Prasad Limbu, a proposed candidate for the Nepali Congress, has shared a strong critique of the party's current state on social media. Limbu, who is a proposed candidate for the direct elections from Jhapa Constituency No. 3, wrote that the Nepali Congress has reached a point where it does not just need to "improve" but must be "reborn."
He claimed that warnings were given for the party to fix itself before Bhadra 24, but the leadership neither listened nor allowed any changes to happen. He wrote on social media that the leaders refused to improve and blocked others from fixing the issues, which has brought the Nepali Congress to a near-end.
According to Limbu, the party has reached a stage where simple reforms are no longer enough to save it. He mentioned that the party now needs to be revived and noted that 54 percent of the General Convention delegates have already signed a document to bring the party back to life.
He stated that feudal and landlord-style mentalities cannot work within historic parties like the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML). He reminded readers that these are people-based parties with over eighty years of history, built by our ancestors, and no one has the right to destroy such historic organizations.
Limbu warned that if the Nepali Congress and UML become weak or disappear, democracy itself will be left without a guardian. He emphasized that the Nepali Congress is the true political parent of the country.
He also accused certain groups within the party of working to prevent the Congress from being revived or improved. He stated that the people and party workers are no longer in a position to remain silent and concluded by calling on all members to speak up together to bring the party back to life.
