Nepali Congress Central Working Committee Meeting Decisions
Kathmandu. The meeting of the Nepali Congress Central Working Committee has decided to effectively fulfill the role of the main opposition in Parliament and support the government's positive actions. The meeting held on Thursday stated that there will be no compromise on democratic values, freedom of expression, and the rule of law.
The meeting expressed concern over the shrinking freedom of expression and cautioned the government not to control social media in the name of regulation. The Nepali Congress remains clear that regardless of the position or responsibility held by an individual, it is necessary to cooperate when the state seeks to investigate according to legal procedures, and everyone has been urged to cooperate.
The meeting concluded that the report of the inquiry commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki is incomplete, biased, and selective. Since there was no adequate investigation into the events of last bhadra 24, a demand has been made to form a high-level judicial commission for a fresh, impartial investigation of the incident.
Similarly, the government has been urged to reduce taxes, provide VAT concessions, and offer relief to students to control the price hike of petroleum products. The meeting passed reports related to sister organizations and overseas PR committees. Furthermore, decisions were made to move forward with the process of renewing active memberships and distributing new memberships.
