Nepal Election Update: Ballot Printing for 25 Districts Completed
Kathmandu, Feb 2. So far, 3 million ballots for the direct category of the House of Representatives election, scheduled for March 5, have been printed. According to the Election Commission, printing for 25 districts has been completed.
The Commission stated that the printing of ballots is ongoing at the Janak Education Materials Centre in Bhaktapur. Earlier, the printing of 20,830,000 ballots for the proportional representation system was finished.
Similarly, 1,098,200 sample ballots have been printed for voter education purposes. In the meantime, the Voter Education Unit under the Commission's Election Information Communication and Coordination Center has released 158 materials approved by the Commission to provide election education. These materials are available on the Commission's official Facebook, X, TikTok, and YouTube pages.
It is believed that these materials, targeted at voters, political parties, candidates, and stakeholders, will enhance the integrity of the election, provide citizens with official and reliable information, and help minimize the impact of false and misleading information.
With the aim of informing the international community about the House of Representatives election, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the Commission, held a briefing for heads and representatives of diplomatic missions and United Nations agencies in Kathmandu.
According to Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the program, attended by representatives from the Commission and the Ministry of Home Affairs, provided information on the election environment, preparations made by the Election Commission, and national and international observation.
