Nepali Congress Special Convention Proponents Dismiss Central Office Directive
Kathmandu. Proponents of the second special convention of the Nepali Congress have announced the dismissal of the directive issued by the Congress central office on Wednesday, which instructed central representatives not to come to Kathmandu.
Organizing a press conference on Thursday, Ajay Babu Shiwakoti, a central member of the Nepali Congress, stated that the directive issued on behalf of the central office is collectively dismissed by the second special convention.
He said, "We announce through this press conference that the decree issued yesterday by the central office of the Nepali Congress is collectively dismissed on behalf of the second special convention of the Nepali Congress."
Similarly, he mentioned that having disobeyed orders given by the King in the past, they would not obey the current order claiming the relevance of the special convention has ended, while they are simply advocating for the lawful adherence to the party's constitution.
He stated, "The decree or order issued by the chief secretary of the Nepali Congress central office—just as we did not obey orders from the King in the past—we now dismiss the order claiming the special convention's justification is over, especially as we are calling for the constitution to be followed."
He added that seeing the dynamism of the members regarding the special convention, the leadership has become panicked and is repeatedly issuing statements and notices in an attempt to intimidate them, and that today's meeting of the performance committee is a continuation of that behavior.
