Nepali Congress Demands Release of Gen-Z Protest Report

Kathmandu. The Nepali Congress has demanded the immediate public release of the report submitted by the Judicial Inquiry Commission regarding the Gen-Z protest incidents that occurred on Bhadra 23 and 24.

A meeting held at the party's central office in Sanepa from Friday to Sunday called for the government to make the commission's findings public. The meeting also decided to demand that the Government of Nepal take action to release and safely bring home Amrit Jha, a Nepali citizen currently held by the Iranian military at Bandar Abbas port in the Strait of Hormuz.

Furthermore, the party expressed deep concern over the escalating war in the Middle East and emphasized the need for global peace. The government’s attention was drawn toward ensuring the safety of Nepalis living in war-torn regions, alongside the specific demand for Amrit Jha's safe return.

The meeting concluded that current challenges are structural, systemic, and situational rather than personal. It noted that it has been difficult for the new leadership, formed after the special convention, to resolve all challenges within a limited 50-day period.

Additionally, the meeting directed district and constituency levels to send further reports regarding election results, deciding to conduct a comprehensive review once these reports are integrated with preliminary findings. The party has also officially decided to shift its full focus toward the 15th General Convention.
