MP Indira Rana Magar Urges Government Not to Dissolve National Child Rights Council

Kathmandu. Indira Rana Magar, a Member of Parliament from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has drawn the government's attention to the issue of dissolving the National Child Rights Council. Speaking at Thursday's House of Representatives meeting, Magar mentioned that rumors have been publicly heard regarding the previous government's decision to dissolve the National Child Rights Council.

Keeping in mind sensitive issues such as the protection of child rights, the welfare of children, and institutional continuity, she urged the government not to implement the decision until a clear alternative structure and effective management are ensured.

She said, "It has been publicly heard that the previous government made a decision regarding the dissolution of the National Child Rights Council. Keeping in mind sensitive matters like child rights protection, the welfare of children, and institutional continuity, I would like to seriously draw the attention of the Government of Nepal not to immediately implement the said decision until a clear alternative structure and effective arrangement are ensured. Additionally, I request the government to reconsider this matter by holding extensive consultations with stakeholders."

MP Rana Magar also requested the government to reconsider the decision after widespread consultation with stakeholders on this matter. Characterizing children as the most vulnerable and voiceless section of society, she expressed the view that the state must remain sensitive to their rights and protection.
