Nagarik Shakti Nepal, Led by Dev Prakash Tripathi, Rejects Election
Kathmandu. Nagarik Shakti Nepal, led by Dev Prakash Tripathi, has officially announced its rejection of the upcoming election, raising serious questions regarding the current political situation, the character of the government, and the electoral process. Through a statement issued by the Central Committee in Kathmandu, the organization made public its decision to withdraw from the electoral process, concluding that the election cannot be conducted in a free, fair, and fearless environment.
The statement mentions that the primary objective of Nagarik Shakti Nepal is to lead the country, which is currently plagued by anarchy, corruption, and foreign influence, toward a clear direction and sustainable development. Concluding that a mere change in government has failed to bring the expected stability, peace, and prosperity to the country, the organization emphasized the need for fundamental change.
Nagarik Shakti Nepal has alleged that the current government itself is not impartial and that individuals in power are directly or indirectly affiliated with various parties and interest groups. The organization claims that under such circumstances, the election cannot be fair and risks becoming a cause of instability, conflict, and violence.
The statement notes the decision to reject the election by withdrawing the names of its candidates registered under the proportional representation category for the parliamentary elections scheduled for Falgun 21. Furthermore, it clarified that the organization will not participate in any election process conducted by the current government until an impartial or all-party government is formed.
Nagarik Shakti Nepal has urged the government and all stakeholders to play a responsible role in ensuring a credible path to a political solution to lead the country out of the existing crisis.
