Mugu Launches Discount Shops Ahead of Dashain and Tihar

Mugu, September 16 : Considering the upcoming major festivals like Dashain and Tihar, a discount shop has been opened here from Monday. Operated by the branch office of the Food Management and Trade Company, the shop offers daily consumable items at concessional rates.
At the shop, consumers can purchase essential food items such as rice, cooking oil, and sugar at discounted prices. The company has arranged for cheaper rates of commonly expensive rice varieties in the market, including Rims Jeera Rice, Aruwa Sona Rice, and medium to coarse rice. Similarly, sunflower, mustard, and soybean oils, along with sugar, are also available at discounted rates.
The discount shop is expected to help control artificial price hikes and black marketing. Branch Chief Keshav Giri noted that during every festival, problems like sudden price increases in the market, consumer exploitation, and artificial shortages created by traders are common, which is why the shop has been opened in time this year.
Local consumers have stated that the discount shop has provided them with direct relief. According to the Food Management and Trade Company, the discount shop will operate regularly and additional materials will be made available as needed.
