Miss Tamang Pokhara–2026 Contestants’ Training Intensifies

Pokhara. On the occasion of Sonam Lhosar, the training program for the contestants participating in Miss Tamang Pokhara–2026, organized by the Baidam Tamang Sewa Samaj, is continuing regularly.

The competition has been organized every year with the objective of providing the daughters of the Tamang community with essential modern life skills alongside their language, rituals, and culture.

According to the program coordinator Roshila Blon Tamang, renowned personalities from various fields have already provided training to the competitors.

The trainers include former President of Nepal Jaycees Raju KC, former President of Pokhreli Yuva Sanskritik Pariwar Upendra Paudel, Station Manager of Radio Annapurna Sanjay Malla, Vice President of Federation of Nepali Journalists Kaski Kanchan Thapa, Advocate Juna Gurung, Senior Police Sub-Inspector Durga Yonjan from the Cyber Bureau, Police Assistant Constable Suraj Rimal, International Certified Level Four Fitness Instructor Jasmine Gurung, Taekwondo Instructor Regmi Maya Gurung, President of Zonta Club Pokhara Rozina Ranjit Bijukchhe, Central Vice President of Nepal Tamang Ghedung Deepak Waiba Tamang, and Tamang Linguist Ajitman Tamang, among others.

Participating young women in the training are being provided instruction on life-useful subjects such as the art of speaking, women empowerment, Tamang language, rituals and culture, cyber security, women's rights, and self-defense.

Similarly, choreography training for stage presentation and confidence enhancement is being conducted by Jita Lama, Roshila Blon Tamang, and Ram Lama. The official photo, video, and content director of the program is Ganesh Bajra Lama.

The contestants have shared feedback that their self-confidence has increased through the training, it has become easier to speak publicly, and they have learned to take pride in their language and culture. “This competition has become an opportunity not only to win the crown but to recognize oneself and become capable,” said one participant.

Jack Tamang, President of Baidam Tamang Seva Samaj, stated that the language and rituals of the Tamang community must be preserved not only on paper but also in practice. Therefore, he defined Miss Tamang Pokhara as a living stage for that practice and a campaign for handing over cultural inheritance rather than just a competition.

Program coordinator Roshila Blon Tamang said that a clear change in the thinking and confidence of the young women has started to appear. Within a few days of training, changes are visible in the participants' speaking style, presentation, and thinking. We are not preparing beauty, but conscious, capable, and responsible leadership, she said.

Twelve young women from the Tamang community are participating in Miss Tamang Pokhara–2026. The participants include Roj Syangden Lama, Kabina Ghising Tamang, Soni Pakhrin Tamang, Maya Dumjan Tamang, Khushi Moktan Tamang, Supriya Gole Tamang, Salina Syangden Tamang, Sommaya Moktan Tamang, Angel Lama, Sumitra Tamang, Khushi Lama, and Prabha Tamang.
