Surabi Bajracharya wins the title of 'Miss Little Newa: 1145'

Surabi Bajracharya of Lalitpur won the title of Miss Little Newa: 1145 in a beauty and talent competition among girls from the Newar community completed in the capital on Monday.

Bajracharya won the 15th Miss Little Newa: title by leaving behind 19 contestants. Along with becoming Miss Little Newa: 1145, she received a bright crown, 25,000 rupees in cash, and various other prizes.

In the competition organized by Nepalese Fashion Home and co-organized by Fight for Life, Kristina Maharjan from Maitidevi, Kathmandu, became the first runner-up. She also won the sub-title of Miss Talent. Similarly, Ripansi Shrestha from Kuleshwor became the second runner-up. As the runner-up and second runner-up, they received crowns along with 15,000 and 10,000 rupees in cash respectively, and various gifts.

In the competition held at the Nepal Police Club auditorium in Exhibition Road, Arshiya Maharjan won Miss Talent first runner-up, Princika Shahi won Miss Talent second runner-up, Lidia Maharjan won Best Nepal Bhasa, Rozlin Shakya won Best Dress, Dejala Shakya won Social Welfare Ambassador Chief, Sahina Shakya won Social Welfare Ambassador first runner-up, and Bidisha Maharjan won Social Welfare Ambassador second runner-up.

Likewise, Anya Maharjan won Miss Discipline, Sachika Maharjan won Miss Public Choice, Shrisha Shrestha won Miss Culture, Aaragya Maharjan won Miss Confident and Best Skin, Christina Khadgi won Miss Personality, Saphu Bajracharya won Miss Innocent and Tasbir Miss Photogenic, Nibha Dangol won Best Hair and Miss Cute, Sastha Manandhar won Best Smile, Shreya Balami won Miss Charming, and Christina Khadgi won Miss Friendship.

The chief judge of the competition was Manishree Ratna Bajracharya, Past District Governor of Lions Club International 325. Other judges included Advocate Lakshman Maharjan, Dr. Shikshita Shrestha, Vice Principal of Namuna Fashion College Jiveshwar Lal Shrestha, Newar language instructor Raju Napit, and President of Jyapu Samaj Yala Shantaman Maharjan.

Hema Manandhar, President of the organizing institution Nepalese Fashion Home, stated that the competition has been organized regularly for 15 years with the aim of inspiring the preservation of the language, script, art, and culture of the Newar community and making them feel proud of being Newar.

The program was chaired by Dr. Kishor Raj Pradhan, with Dev Kaji Dangol, President of RD Foundation, as the chief guest. Special guests included renowned singer Meera Rana and Dil Kumar Maharjan, President of Fight for Life. 

During the event, Nayana Shakya, an athlete who successfully represented Nepal internationally in skating and a former Miss Little Newa: 1141 and Miss Talent, was honored. The competition was completed under the choreography of Miss Newa: Sakina Maharjan, Miss Newa: Pralisha Shakya, and Miss Newa: Social Welfare Ambassador Chief Timila Maharjan, and the coordination of Miss Newa: Krisha Maharjan.miss-little-newa-(2)-1768896383.JPG
