Ministry of Health Directs Halt to Vandalism and Unauthorized Filming in Hospitals
Kathmandu. The Ministry of Health and Population has issued a directive to refrain from physical assaults, vandalism, lockouts, and other illegal activities within hospitals and health institutions.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry noted increasing complaints about individuals entering hospital premises without permission to take photos and videos of patients and healthcare workers, creating unnecessary crowds, and obstructing treatment processes.
According to the Ministry, such activities violate patient privacy and severely impact the delivery of healthcare services. It clarified that filming without permission in sensitive areas like hospitals, or mistreating and pressuring health workers, constitutes a violation of existing laws.
The 'Security of Health Workers and Health Institutions Act, 2066' stipulates that no one shall obstruct treatment or engage in physical assault, threats, abuse, or insulting behavior. Similarly, the 'National Penal Code, 2074' prohibits taking photos of anyone without their permission.
The Ministry has requested everyone not to take, publish, or broadcast photos and videos within hospital and health institution premises without the approval of relevant authorities. Furthermore, it warned that stringent action will be taken against those engaging in such illegal activities.
