Minister Sinha Stresses Efficiency in Public Spending and Service Delivery

Kathmandu: Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, Anil Kumar Sinha, has stated that ensuring the effectiveness of public expenditure and improving service delivery are the major challenges of the present day.

Speaking at a policy discussion program regarding public spending efficiency and service improvement, Minister Sinha noted that the utility of public funds and the quality of services are directly linked to the daily lives of citizens, their trust in the state, and the overall effectiveness of democracy.

He explained that the state invests resources—collected through taxes, fees, and international aid—into sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, social security, and administrative services.

"The issue of public expenditure utility and service improvement is equally important today. This matter is directly connected to the daily lives of citizens, trust in the state, and the effectiveness of democracy," the Minister said. "The state invests resources gathered from citizens via taxes and fees, as well as international assistance, into education, health, infrastructure, social security, and administration."

Minister Sinha emphasized that the primary question from citizens concerns the quality of services derived from this spending. "The question citizens ask is: are we receiving the quality services we feel and experience from the public expenditure being made?" he remarked.

He further pointed out that questions regarding the quality of education persist, and even where hospitals exist, access to and the effectiveness of their services remain a challenge. He concluded by stating that it is essential to make public spending result-oriented while simultaneously improving service delivery.
