Minister Kharel Stresses Preservation of Natural and Cultural Heritage

Kathmandu. Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel, has emphasized the need to preserve and promote unparalleled nature and historical cultural heritage.

While observing the Patan Durbar Square area, a site of historical and archaeological significance, on Saturday, Minister Kharel expressed confidence that the preservation of cultural heritage and promotion of tourism in Lalitpur, the repository of traditional heritage, art, and culture, will be prioritized.

Communication Minister Kharel said, "Nepal should be promoted globally through the preservation of its historical, traditional art and culture. The cultural heritage and food culture of Lalitpur should be internationalized."

Stating that various castes, languages, cultures, and heritage are Nepal's original identity, Communication Minister Kharel pointed out the need for everyone to unite in the preservation and promotion of Lalitpur's cultural heritage, which is renowned both domestically and internationally as a heritage city.

He mentioned that strong understanding and collaboration between the federal, provincial, and local governments are necessary for the overall development of Lalitpur, known as a city of religious, cultural, and historical arts, and for the preservation of its tangible and intangible heritage.

Minister Kharel observed Lalitpur's Patan Durbar Square, which is listed as a World Heritage Site, the historic Krishna Mandir, and the Patan Museum.

Minister Kharel also visited the 'Craft and Cultural Festival' ongoing at the museum. According to the exhibition coordinator, Anandabir Bajracharya, materials reflecting traditional art and culture are on display at the five-day exhibition.
