Minister Inspects Security Printing Center, Directs Expedited License Printing
Kathmandu. Minister for Communication and Information Technology Dr. Bikram Timilsina has inspected the Security Printing Center located in Panauti-5, Kavre. During the visit, he directed officials to expedite the printing of driving licenses. He also announced that a system has been implemented starting today to ensure licenses are printed within 24 hours of passing the trial and paying the revenue.
Minister Timilsina stated that the government is committed to ending the long-standing problem of citizens not receiving their licenses on time, adding that the goal is to print all remaining licenses by the end of this Asar. "Work that is possible will no longer be halted; service seekers will receive fast service. The issue of not getting licenses for a long time has now come to an end," he said.
During the inspection, he emphasized the need to develop the Security Printing Center into an effective and capable institution. Pointing out that work had been delayed in the past due to a lack of necessary willpower and management, Timilsina noted that they would now move forward by solving those issues.
He also informed that the ministry has taken initiatives to operate equipment worth billions of rupees that had been idle for a long time. Expressing sadness that equipment worth nearly one billion rupees remained unused at the center, he stated that they would now be utilized effectively.
He further directed the center to prioritize the security of citizens' data and provide service-seeker-friendly assistance. Similarly, he clarified that the government is working for the service of the people and that the ministry is committed to quickly resolving grievances observed in service delivery.
