Minister-Designate Khagendra Sunar Revealed as Fugitive in Two Cases
Kathmandu: Khagendra Sunar, who is reportedly being considered for a ministerial post in the interim government, has been identified as a fugitive accused in two different cases, according to the Central Police's Criminal Record System (CRS).
Sources from the character certificate issuance branch of Nepal Police Headquarters confirmed that Sunar's name appears in the police records as an individual who is yet to serve his sentences or is a wanted (fugitive) accused in connection with two separate charges.
Key details from the police record include:
An arrest warrant was issued against him by the Kavrepalanchok District Court in an electronic transaction case, which is currently pending.
He is also yet to be arrested and has outstanding sentence obligations based on an arrest warrant issued by the Surkhet District Court on Ashar 21, 2081 B.S.
Furthermore, a case against Sunar is also pending consideration in the Supreme Court.
The revelation of a potential minister's background as a fugitive with multiple unsettled legal cases and outstanding arrest warrants has sparked controversy just as the new interim cabinet is being formed.
