Bajura Mayor criticizes "Hero Style" politics and focus on personal popularity

Kathmandu. Janak Kumar Bohara, the Mayor of Budhinanda Municipality in Bajura, has commented that some local representatives are focusing more on activities outside their primary responsibilities. According to him, being active in pursuit of personal popularity and high-level aspirations instead of fulfilling the five-year mandate given by the people is a trend that does not align with public expectations.

Giving the example of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah, he stated that presenting a "hero style" through nationwide tours and public programs while failing to effectively spend even a limited budget raises questions about priorities. He remarked that focusing on aspirations to become Prime Minister while abandoning the responsibility given by the people midway is not a correct practice.

Highlighting the lifestyle and struggles of the citizens of Bajura, Mayor Bohara said, "Citizens living with facilities at home in Kathmandu and the people of Bajura are not in the same situation. Citizens here have been carrying heavy loads for generations, reaching as far as Kumaon-Garhwal in India to perform hard labor to educate their children. It is essential to understand this pain."

He clarified that the development of Bajura is only possible through a party that carries history, sacrifice, and struggle, stating that only the CPN-UML deeply understands the needs and potential of Bajura. "The forces that have emerged in the name of independent parties have neither a long-term history nor a guarantee of stability," he said.

Mayor Bohara emphasized that leadership evaluation should be based on work, budget implementation, and changes brought to people's lives rather than popular speeches or appearances. He stated that the country needs leadership that can show results while fulfilling the obligations of the local government.
