Mayor Maharjan Urges Gen Z to Support Upcoming Elections
Kathmandu: Lalitpur Metropolitan City Mayor Chiri Babu Maharjan has remarked that "Gen Z" has recently changed its tune by claiming they will not allow elections to take place.
Speaking on Wednesday at an event organized to mark the 107th Anniversary of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Maharjan emphasized that the primary responsibility of the interim government is to conduct elections and insisted they must happen at any cost.
He stated:
"The main task of the current government is to complete the election on February 21 and hand over power to an elected government. I am concerned because Gen Z calls the government/system their 'mother.'
However, lately, Gen Z has changed their tone and is saying they won't let the election happen. This is not acceptable; the election must take place. Gen Z should not obstruct this process. They are our younger brothers and sisters; they haven't reached full maturity yet—I hope they do. They must support the successful work their 'mother' is trying to accomplish."
Furthermore, Mayor Maharjan claimed that the level of harmony among people's representatives in Lalitpur Metropolitan City is currently at an all-time high. He attributed the city's daily progress to this internal unity.
"There was never this much harmony among representatives before. The 'fusion' of friendship between the representatives and the staff is the reason the Metropolitan City is successful in doing something new every day," he said.
Mayor Maharjan also asserted that the innovative work being done in Lalitpur serves as a model for others to follow.
