Kedar Ghimire Donates Rs. 25,000 to Film Journalists’ Welfare Fund
Kathmandu — Popular comedian and actor Kedar Ghimire (aka Magne Budha) has donated Rs. 25,000 to the Journalists’ Welfare Fund run by the Film Journalists’ Association of Nepal.
The association has been operating the fund for a long time to support journalists with health treatment, emergencies, and unforeseen situations. As part of its ongoing “Welfare Fund Campaign,” Ghimire handed over the cash to the association’s representatives on Sunday.
While presenting the contribution, Ghimire said, “I always dedicate a portion of my earnings from acting to social service. I am happy to contribute a small amount this time to support film journalists. Journalists are the medium through which our creations reach the audience, and supporting them is also our responsibility.”
Known as a high-earning actor in recent years, Ghimire has been allocating part of his income to socially responsible initiatives. He expressed pride in being able to contribute, even modestly, to the welfare of film journalists.
Samir Balami, Central President of the Film Journalists’ Association of Nepal, expressed gratitude for Ghimire’s contribution, saying, “So far, our fund has directly supported the treatment of around two dozen journalists. During crises like earthquakes and the COVID-19 pandemic, the fund has also provided relief and medical assistance to journalists. Contributions like this will make the fund stronger and more effective.”
The association has also urged filmmakers, artists, and well-wishers to participate in the journalists’ welfare fund. Ghimire’s support is seen as a positive gesture that will promote solidarity and encouragement in the field of film journalism.
