A library building will be constructed at Lakshmi Secondary School at a cost of 20 million rupees.
A library building is going to be built at Lakshmi Secondary School in Pokhara Metropolitan City Ward No. 26 at a cost of nearly 20 million rupees.
The building is being constructed with a grant from Lions Clubs International, along with support from the school and the local community.
Laying the foundation stone of the building on Monday, Narendra Thapa, the Chairperson of Pokhara Ward No. 26, mentioned that the construction of the library will be a milestone in improving the educational quality for students, teachers, and the community.
Ward Chairperson Thapa said that the support of former students plays an important role in improving community schools. He mentioned that it would be a great help if former students, wherever they are, simply remember the education given to them by their school.
He called upon the former students to help provide necessary books and information technology materials after the library is built.
During the program, Binod Dhungana, the Immediate Past Governor of Lions Clubs International 325 I, expressed his happiness at being connected through the Lions Club to the school where he studied. He explained that the project he envisioned while serving as District Governor became possible through the Lions international fund.
At the foundation-laying ceremony chaired by School Management Committee Chairperson Khem Bahadur Gurung, School Principal Jagannath Adhikari and contractor Bhakta Bahadur Baniya urged everyone to be confident that the work will be completed on time.
The cost of the project received through Lions Clubs International 325 I is 19.7 million rupees. Principal Adhikari informed that a grant of 100,000 US dollars was received from the Lions Foundation, while the remaining amount will be raised by the school and local donors.
Team One Construction Company will complete the building in eight months and hand it over to the school. Past Governor Dhungana informed that Lions Club of Pokhara Arghau coordinated the building construction.
Leaders of Lions Clubs International 325 I, school teachers, staff, local social workers, education enthusiasts, and people's representatives participated in the foundation-laying ceremony.
