Kulman Ghising: Electricity Arrears Collection Enters a New Phase
Kathmandu. Energy, Infrastructure, and Urban Development Minister Kulman Ghising has announced that the arrears collection process, which has resonated with everyone from political leadership to the general public, has now entered a new phase.
On Thursday, via social media, he stated that despite obstructions in collection due to political interference with the steps legally taken by the Authority, the arrears collection is now progressing towards concrete results.
He wrote, "The arrears collection process, which has resonated with everyone from the political leadership to the general public, has now entered a new phase.
This issue had become a matter of national concern as political-level interference repeatedly obstructed collection efforts taken legally by the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA)," he further wrote, "The situation had reached a point where there were systematic attempts by some individuals in responsible positions to neutralize the outstanding electricity bills that the state was supposed to collect.
However, due to everyone's continuous concern, monitoring, and vigilance, the arrears collection is now progressing towards a concrete result."
Minister Ghising also thanked all the industrialists who have started paying installments of the outstanding amount, acknowledging their sense of duty towards the nation in the current challenging circumstances.
