Kulman Ghising Stresses the Need for Visionary Leadership and Implementation

Kathmandu. Kulman Ghising, Chairman of the Ujyaalo Nepal Party, has stated that the country requires leadership capable of providing vision, planning, and execution. Through social media, he remarked that the country's problem is not a lack of movements or declarations, but rather a weakness in implementation, necessitating leadership that can deliver results.

"The country does not need slogans—it needs vision, plans, and leadership capable of working. We have seen many movements and declarations, but the root of the problem is not the declaration; it is the weakness in implementation.

Even today, a system where it takes 15 years to build a single bridge, where action cannot be taken against contractors who take contracts but do not work, and where decisions cannot be made, is blocking development," he wrote.

He described the recently concluded election not just as a political competition, but as an opportunity for change arising from the public voice against corruption, irregularity, and inactivity.

Recalling that Nepal previously suffered through up to 18 hours of power cuts (load shedding), he presented the example that it was possible to remove the darkness through firm decisions and leadership. He claimed that by revitalizing the Nepal Electricity Authority and expanding electricity services, the country was moved toward self-reliance in the energy sector.

He wrote, "We also saw the darkness of up to 18 hours of load shedding. But through courageous decisions and firm leadership, we proved that piercing that darkness and achieving light is possible. We moved from a situation where only about 58 percent of households had electricity to reaching 99 percent. By revitalizing the Nepal Electricity Authority, we gave the country the confidence to transition from an electricity importer to an exporter."

Similarly, he mentioned that while holding responsibilities in the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Ministry of Urban Development, work was advanced to remove obstacles in waste management at Bancharedada, restart the Melamchi water supply, open the Tatopani border crossing, and terminate contracts for stranded development projects.

Ghising noted that the public gave a large mandate to the Rastriya Swatantra Party with expectations of change from the election, and expressed his best wishes for their success in maintaining good governance. He also stated that the Ujyaalo Nepal Party would support the government's good deeds and provide constructive warnings against wrong actions.

Mentioning that the electoral defeat was not a final result but merely a technical matter, he expressed a commitment to continuously advance the campaign to build a "Bright Nepal."

"We entered the election with a commitment to provide work and results. We won the hearts of the people by doing work like ending load shedding, but this time we could not win in terms of votes. However, a loss in the election is only a technical matter. The love, trust, and harmony you provided through the public mandate in such a short time have become a great energy and guidance for us," he wrote.
