Kathmandu Metropolitan City Prioritizes Health, Education, and Employment: Mayor Shah
Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah has stated that the metropolis has implemented programs such as health, education, and employment promotion as 'Gaurav Ko Yojana' (Projects of Pride) to ease the daily lives of citizens.
Addressing a program organized in Kathmandu on Monday on the occasion of the 31st Metropolitan Day, he said that the KMC is working for the benefit of all metropolitan residents and has given additional priority to implementing projects linked to the daily lives and general concerns of the citizens.
He stated, “Kathmandu Metropolitan City is working for the benefit of all metropolitan residents. Economic, social, infrastructure, good governance, inter-related sectors, and office operations and administrative sectors are the regular areas of work for the metropolis.
Along with regular work, the metropolis has implemented programs for health, education, employment promotion, environmental improvement, and infrastructure as Projects of Pride to give additional priority to implementing plans related to the daily lives and general concerns of the citizens.”
Furthermore, he informed that under the dust-free road initiative, the metropolis has completed 55 kilometers of road improvement work, installed lights at 62 intersections, and is illuminating the city by placing 13,340 lights on 5,318 poles to maintain the quality of street lighting and ensure uniform nighttime urban aesthetics.
He also informed that this year, treatment was recommended for 1,086 underprivileged citizens, and 210 individuals received free treatment services under the free treatment for helpless, underprivileged, and destitute category.

We have established 35 health institutions, including health promotion centers in all 32 wards, and a public health laboratory. We have also operated 10 centers as the first service points for health insurance.”
