Prime Minister Karki Emphasizes Discipline, Patriotism, and Leadership for Youth

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has emphasized that discipline, patriotism, and leadership should become the lifestyle of the youth.

Addressing the annual collective camp convocation ceremony organized by the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Central Training Academy on Tuesday, she stated that NCC training plays a vital role in developing youth into responsible citizens.

Addressing the cadet students, Prime Minister Karki mentioned that the training provided an opportunity to understand basic security, military arts, contemporary issues, and gain a close look at Nepal’s geography, language, culture, and history.

She remarked that this would further strengthen leadership skills, teamwork, and the spirit of national unity. Praising the drill demonstration presented at the event, Prime Minister Karki expressed confidence that the discipline, diligence, and self-confidence seen in the cadets would make the role of youth more effective in building an advanced society.

She urged the graduated cadets to make discipline a lifestyle and continuously practice it in their daily lives, studies, professions, and social service.

Prime Minister Karki stated that patriotism should not be limited to emotions but translated into behavior, urging cadets to move forward as honest, dutiful, and responsible citizens. She also requested them to stand on the front lines during disasters and crises to voluntarily participate in rescue, relief, and service work.

She inspired the youth to prioritize ethics, character, and honesty while continuously engaging in skill development, education, and self-growth. "One cannot contribute to society and the country without being capable oneself," she said.

According to Prime Minister Karki, the National Cadet Corps has been increasing the number of cadet students every year and conducting training even in remote and underprivileged areas as per the government’s policy. In this fiscal year, 7,710 cadet students from 257 schools across the country were provided training, including 1,080 from the Senior Division and 6,630 from the Junior Division.

Noting that approximately 90,000 youths have received NCC training to date, Prime Minister Karki thanked the Nepali Army and the National Cadet Corps family. She also expressed commitment to further expanding the scope of the training in the coming days.

At the conclusion of the program, she extended thanks and best wishes to the Nepali Army, local governments, schools, teachers, parents, and all the graduated cadets who helped complete the training successfully.
