Major Party Defections as Leaders and Activists Join JSP Nepal in Saptari

Rajbiraj. Dozens of leaders and activists from various parties, including Central Member of the Rajendra Mahato-led National Mukti Party Nepal, Vishnu Gupta, have joined the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal.

During an electoral discussion and meeting program organized on Sunday at Kathanua Bazaar in Shambhunath Municipality of Saptari, Gupta and others defected from various parties to join JSP Nepal. Dozens of leaders and activists also joined the party under the leadership of retired accountant Kameshwar Sah, who also served as the Municipal Secretary of the Nepali Congress.

Similarly, local leader of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Kulanand Sah, District Member of the National Mukti Party and Shambhunath Municipality Coordinator Sunil Kumar Mandal, Chandrika Devi Chaudhary, Nilam Devi Chaudhary, Shrewati Devi Sah, Gena Devi Sardar, Sunita Devi Sardar, Rita Devi Chaudhary, Prameshwari Devi Sardar, Jano Devi Ram, Binita Devi Ram, and Jibachhi Ram, among others, joined JSP Nepal.

Party Chairman and candidate for Saptari Constituency No. 3, Upendra Yadav, welcomed the newcomers with garlands and scarves. He called upon the new members to remain committed to the party's policies and principles and to engage actively in the election campaign.

Addressing the program, Chairman Yadav stated that Madhesh remains the most backward among the seven provinces and is plagued by problems such as poverty and unemployment. Noting that the Congress and Communists have held power in the country for 35 years, he said, "Hundreds of factories that were operational 35 years ago were closed due to the wrong policies of the Congress and Communists; the country was ruined by privatizing and undermining government schools and hospitals."

He stated that the quotas for communities including Madhesis, women, Dalits, Janajatis, Tharus, Muslims, indigenous groups, and minorities were secured through the Madhesh People's Rebellion. Asserting that quotas were even ensured within the central committees of the Congress and Communist parties, he said, "If we had not led the Madhesh movement, Madhesis would not have found a place in those parties either."

Discussing the establishment of Madhesh Province as the only province based on identity in Nepal, Chairman Yadav mentioned that while the Madhesh population accounts for about 60 percent of the total, they are only allocated 11 percent of the development budget. Therefore, he stated, the struggle for the rights and interests of Madhesh and the Madhesi people continues.

The program was chaired by local leader and Ward Chair Chandra Kant Mandal. Speeches were delivered by Party Central Secretary and former Minister Shailendra Prasad Sah, Central Member and youth/student wing head Bideshwar Prasad Yadav 'Bikki', provincial leader Dinesh Kumar Yadav, Yusuf Ali, District Chairman Sunil Kumar Jha, Binod Kumar Yadav, proportional candidates Swastika Chaudhary and Chulhai Mandal, District Vice-Chairman Hareram Yadav, Advocate Mohammad Samim, Ward Chair Gopal Chaudhary, Socialist Youth Federation Nepal District Chairman Kedar Prasad Yadav, and OBC Federation District Chairman Umesh Kumar Yadav, among others.

Chairman Yadav also participated in electoral discussions and meeting programs in various wards of Dakneshwori Municipality on Sunday.
