Communications Minister Jagdish Kharel Meets UML Chair KP Sharma Oli
Kathmandu — Communications Minister Jagdish Kharel held a meeting with CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli on Friday. Minister Kharel visited Oli’s residence in Gundu for the talks.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Minister Kharel said the government is holding intensive discussions with political parties to create a conducive environment for the election scheduled for Falgun 21.
He stated that he visited Oli’s residence to formally build an election-friendly environment and to further encourage the CPN-UML to participate in the election.
Minister Kharel mentioned that the CPN-UML has not opposed the election and has already made it clear that it will take part. “The CPN-UML has already said it will not boycott the election and will accept it. We have confidently urged them to participate in the election,” he said.
According to him, discussions during the meeting focused on the upcoming Falgun 21 election, and it was noted that the UML has no disagreement about going to the polls. However, UML Chair Oli raised concerns regarding election security, Minister Kharel informed.
Minister Kharel said the government has assured that the necessary environment for the election is in place and that the processes of campaigning and voting will be carried out safely. Responding to Oli’s concerns about location restrictions imposed by the government, Minister Kharel said, “Oli ji has emphasized the need to ensure a secure environment.
The government’s goal is the election itself. If there are any obstacles, difficulties, or challenges in achieving this goal, the government will address them, ease the process, and move forward by creating the necessary environment to reach the election destination.”
