Raju Shah's 'Jaand' Receives PG Certificate from Censor Board

The Central Film Censor Board has granted a 'PG' certificate to the movie 'Jaand', making it suitable for all audiences under parental guidance. Directed by Raju Shah, the film received its certification after review. The project, which held its auspicious launch at the last NIFF Film Festival, was filmed in the areas surrounding Nagarkot.

Produced by Rajendra Bhatta, the movie stars Sanvi Khatiwada, Padam Gurung, and Kamala Dahal in lead roles. In addition to the main trio, the cast includes Ramesh Upreti, Manju Shrestha, Subas Gajurel, Ramesh Adhikari, Laxmi Timilsena, and Smarika Khanal.

Produced under the banner of Sukuldhoka Media Pvt. Ltd., the story, screenplay, and dialogues were written by Sunil Prasad Shrestha, Raju Shah, and Rajendra Bhatta. Sunil Prasad Shrestha and Rajendra Shah serve as the film's producers. Shambhu Gautam and Kishor Dangol are the chief assistant directors, while Narendra Kumar KC is the assistant director. Dipen Basnyat handled both cinematography and editing.

The film features action sequences by Yogendra Shrestha, with Sunil Prasad Shrestha serving as the production controller. The songs include lyrics by Shripurush Dhakal, with music and vocals by Roshan Baluwa.

Director Raju Shah stated that the film explores how alcohol causes social defamation, its impact on the home, and how a man who drinks is viewed by his wife, daughter, and society. Producer Sunil added that the film challenges the deep-rooted social superstition that a son is necessary to carry on the family lineage, raising a voice against such harmful traditional practices.

A well-known dance director in the Nepali film industry, Shah previously directed films like 'Namaste Nepal'. Post-production for 'Jaand' was completed at The Peak Studio, with poster designs by IDL. NCGN is the official distributor for the film.
