Increasing Number of Life Members in Chhorepatan Alumni Association

Pokhara - The number of life members in the Chhorepatan Secondary School Alumni Association, formed by former students of the renowned community school in Ward No. 17 of Pokhara Metropolitan City, has been steadily increasing.
Initially registered in 2004 (2061 B.S.) under the leadership of Deepak Raj Baral at the Kaski District Administration Office, the association had been organizing various regular programs. However, due to the busy schedules of executive members and lack of office management, it had become inactive for some time. In 2023 (2080 B.S.), with the initiative of Assistant Headmaster and alumnus Khemraj Baral (Dhruba), along with alumni Himalal Upadhyay and Krishna Ranabhat, a general assembly of former students unanimously elected a new executive committee led by media personality Krishna Ranabhat, revitalizing the organization.
Since its re-registration, the association has been actively conducting various social, educational, and creative activities. These include distribution of warm clothes and school uniforms to students, journalism training, art competitions, literary programs, school sanitation drives, alumni reunions, picnics, and a large-scale eye screening program for 2,300 students conducted over three days, according to Vice President Himalal Upadhyay.
To successfully execute these programs, special support was provided by School Principal Dilliram Sharma, Citizen Furniture (New Road), Himalaya Eye Hospital (Gharipatan), Pokhara Metropolitan City Sanitation Department, Independent Journalists Association Kaski, Assistant Headmaster Khemraj Baral (Dhruba), as well as Devaraj Acharya and Renuka Thebe, as shared by Treasurer Kavita Gurung.
Since its establishment, the association has played an active role in school-related initiatives. Recently, Pokhara Metropolitan City has planned to lease out the Davis Fall area, which has long been used by the school. The association has maintained that the property should remain under school authority. According to Secretary Shalikram Bhandari, the ongoing door-to-door membership campaign has encouraged many former students to express their desire to join the organization.
