Establishment of IEEE Student Branch at Nepal Engineering College
Kathmandu. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world's largest technical and engineering organization, has established a branch at Nepal Engineering College. The IEEE branch was inaugurated at a program organized at the college on Sunday.
The branch was jointly inaugurated by the College Principal, Durga Prasad Bhandari, and the Head of the IEEE Nepal Section, Dr. Arun Kumar Timalsina.
The IEEE Nepal Engineering College (NEC) Student Branch is an official student branch formed under the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the world's largest organization of technical professionals and engineers.
College Principal Durga Prasad Bhandari stated that the IEEE was established in the college to promote technical innovation, research, and professional development; to conduct workshops, seminars, competitions, and technical programs; to connect students with global resources, guidance, and networking; and to increase student participation in conferences, publications, and societies operated by IEEE.
Principal Bhandari expressed confidence that the IEEE would significantly help students at the college develop practical skills, leadership abilities, and industry connections.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Arun Kumar Timalsina, Head of the IEEE Nepal Section, mentioned that since IEEE brings together researchers, academic experts, universities, industry, and technical specialists from government institutions worldwide onto a single platform to exchange experience, knowledge, and research results in the field of electrical power and energy, students studying at Nepal Engineering College can greatly benefit from it.
It provides students with both practical and theoretical knowledge in the fundamental principles of electrical power systems, electronics, and communication, renewable and sustainable energy systems, industrial automation and control, and electrical and electronics engineering, offering them an opportunity to gain national and international recognition.
IEEE is an American charitable professional organization. This organization has a global network of over 486,000 professional engineers from various fields.
Along with engineering studies, the college inspires students for various national and international research and studies to enhance their skills, art, and abilities.
