MP Sampang Urges Prime Minister to Address Border and Security Questions in Parliament
Kathmandu. Harka Sampang, a Member of Parliament from the Shram Sanskriti Party, has demanded that the Prime Minister appear in Parliament to answer the questions raised by lawmakers. Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting held on Thursday, he stated that according to Rule 15(2) of the House of Representatives Rules of Procedure, the Prime Minister, as the leader of the Government of Nepal, must be present in Parliament to answer the questions raised by the MPs.
He said, "According to Rule 15(2) of our rules of procedure, is the leader of the Government of Nepal, the Prime Minister, supposed to come to the House and answer the questions raised by the honorable members or not? This is my question."
MP Sampang mentioned that he had raised various questions related to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, and other ministries on the 28th and 29th of the first month of the year 2083 BS (mid-May 2026), and demanded that the Prime Minister himself must provide the answers to those questions.
He said, "I had raised some questions on the 28th and 29th of the first month of the year 2083 BS. Those were related to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Defense. There were also questions related to some other ministries. I demand that the Prime Minister come and answer those questions."
Stating that the Prime Minister is also handling the Ministry of Home Affairs, he mentioned that he had raised questions regarding the landless squatter problem, peace and security, border disputes, and issues related to Lipulekh. MP Sampang expressed the view that the government must be responsible toward the questions raised in Parliament and that the Prime Minister must appear in person to give answers.
He said, "The Prime Minister has also taken charge of the Ministry of Home Affairs. I also had questions regarding peace and security, including the landless squatters. We have asked various types of questions related to the border and related to Lipulekh. Therefore, the Prime Minister must come to Parliament and answer the questions we have raised."
