Hari Bansha's 'Bhutan' on World-Renowned OTT Platform Amazon

The film 'Bhutan' has been released on the world-famous OTT platform Amazon. According to the film's producer Aviral Thapa, Amazon officially released the movie on January 9 under the English title 'The World's Happiest Man,' currently available in the North America region. Another producer, Rajendra Thakurathi, stated that work is underway to make the film available on other platforms worldwide.

Released in Nepal last April, the film 'Bhutan' (aka The World's Happiest Man) tells the story of Bhutanese refugees who moved from Bhutan to America. It depicts an elderly man's attempts to return to Bhutan from America in the later stages of his life.

The movie explores the suffocation of being forced to live in a foreign land after one's life has already taken root in their birthplace, and the impact of conflicting religion, traditions, and culture despite having material comforts in a foreign country.

Hari Bansha Acharya plays the lead role in the film. The cast includes Dayahang Rai, Anuradha Majumdar, Pooja Chand-Lama, Reecha Ghimire, Joyce Pandey, Aditi Pyakurel, Tom Crane, and Bimal Subedi. Renowned Hollywood actor Bruce Dern also appears in a special role. This is the first Nepali film made under Hollywood's SAG-AFTRA, involving several Hollywood technicians.

Directed by Binod Paudel, 'Bhutan' is produced by Aviral Thapa, Sushank Mainali, Rajendra Thakurathi, Amitabh Joshi, and Kirtana Baskota. It was cinematographed by Susan Prajapati. The executive producers are Bikash 'Vito' Adhikari, Kaushila Khanal, Ramesh Bhatta, and Apar Shrestha.

The film features editing by Anjay Khadka, sound by Dikesh Khadgi Shahi, music by Samvaran Kem, casting by Surya Shahi, publicity design by Ujjwal Shrestha, production design by Bimal Subedi, and art direction by famous Bollywood art director Anjan Gajurel.

The film was produced by Awaken Production (Nepal) and Mad Monkey Films (USA) in collaboration with Thakurathi Bros, Vacant Light, and Everest Entertainment (USA).
