Kathmandu – The trailer of the film Gunyu Cholo: The Dress, based on the story of a transgender character, has received positive feedback from audiences. Director Samudra Bhatt said the reactions have brought the team closer to their expectations of success.
Nazir Hussain plays a transwoman in the film, alongside Sanchita Luitel, Sushil Sitoula, Rajkumar Ghosh, Shishir Rana, Anupam Shrestha, and Bishal Pahari. The movie depicts the struggles of a transgender person forced to hide their identity due to family and societal pressure.
Billed as Nepal’s first full-fledged transgender story, its international distribution rights have been acquired by Buffalo 8 in the US. Post-production was done in Hollywood style, featuring vocals by Lisa Gerrard and music by Marcelo de Francisci.
The film, a collaboration between Nepali and Hollywood production houses, will be released on August 29 (Bhadra 13).
