Grand Premiere of Shobhit Basnet's Film 'PR,' Receives Positive Feedback from Celebrities

Kathmandu: A grand premiere was held for the film 'Permanent Resident: PR', which is set to be released this Friday (Mangsir 26). The production team premiered the film two days before its release, on Wednesday evening, at QFX's City Square hall in Samakhushi.

The premiere saw the attendance of journalists and celebrities including Film Development Board Chairman Dinesh DC, successful director Deepashree Niraula, Gauri Malla, Rejina Upreti, Karishma KC, Deepak Acharya Kaku, Rekha Thapa, Jaikishan Basnet, Sabin Shrestha, Nirmal Sharma, Salinman Baniya, Prabhat Pal, and singer Devika Bandana.

Actress Rekha Thapa commented that the film was very well made and she liked the work of the new artists.

Similarly, Film Development Board Chairman Dinesh DC gave feedback that director Shobhit Basnet's work and the actors' performances were exceptionally good. He further stated that every Nepali should watch this film.

Most of the attendees gave positive feedback, calling the film excellent. In this sequence, actor Salinman Baniya commented that the main actors of the film had performed very well. He said that although they were new artists, they felt like veterans.

"They have done extremely well for a debut movie," he said during an interaction with the media. "I liked it very much. I feel their debut film is even better than mine."

The film's director, Shobhit Basnet, expressed his happiness upon hearing the praise for his artists. During his media interaction, he said, "When they entered the hall, no one recognized them. Seeing people say 'Wow! Wow!' as they came out felt like it was being said about me. Because seeing people scrambling to take photos with the hero and heroine made me feel like I was personally in the film."

Deepashree Niraula, Gauri Malla, Rejina Upreti, Karishma KC, Deepak Acharya Kaku, Jaikishan Basnet, and Sabin Shrestha congratulated and wished the new artists, Suraj and Binita Karki, well, stating the film was exceptionally good.

Rejina Upreti shared that some scenes made her emotional. She became tearful, saying she was deeply affected by the reality of the situation Nepalis face when they go abroad.

The film's story highlights the immense struggle Nepali students endure to obtain a Permanent Resident (PR) status in Australia and how they are plagued by debts back home. This film, directed by Shobhit Basnet and shot in Australia and Nepal, explores the social aspect of foreign study.

Produced under the banner of Salon Salina Films, the movie stars R.A. Suraj Paudel, Binita Karki, Rajan Kunwar, Pooja Chaudhary, Ashma Adhikari Mastani, Bimla Khatri, Ganesh Budhathoki, Max Krishna Thapa, and Nabin Ghayal in lead roles. Nir Shah, Gauri Malla, Rabindra Khadka, Uttam K.C. Nepal, and Dikpal Karki can also be seen in special roles.

The film is presented by Ranjit Sah and Santosh Tiwari, with investment from Laxman Sapkota and Pradeep Dahal. Bande Prasad is the editor, and Ganesh Budhathoki is the writer.

Saurav Sayami and Saurav Lama handled the cinematography, and the film is being distributed by R R Films.
