Government Dialogue Committee Monitors Nepali Congress Party Office
KATHMANDU. A team from the Political Dialogue Committee formed by the government has monitored the Nepali Congress party office.
On Tuesday, a team including Law Minister Anil Kumar Sinha, Communications Minister Jagadish Kharel, and the Prime Minister's Chief Advisor Ajay Bhadra Khanal reached the Congress office in Sanepa, which was set on fire during the Gen Z movement, to conduct the monitoring. They also held discussions with representatives of the Congress party.
During the discussion, Communications Minister Kharel stated that the main mandate received from the Gen Z movement is the upcoming election on March 5 (Phagun 21). He informed them that they had come for talks to create an environment for the election.
He said, "The main mandate from the Gen Z movement is the election on March 5. We came to Sanepa believing that the government must reach out to important political parties to create and ensure an environment for the election."
Similarly, during the discussion, Congress Vice President Dhanraj Gurung urged the government to create the right environment, stating that they do not yet see the conditions for a fair, free, and impartial election.
"We still do not see an environment where the election can be fair, free, and impartial; please create that. This is our request," he said. He added that the 10-point agreement between the Gen Z movement and the government, which ignored the country's political parties, has also created a sense of distrust among them.
