Minister for Social Development, Youth, and Sports of Gandaki Province, Bindu Kumar Thapa, stated that both the government and society are moving forward hand in hand in the journey toward making the province free of street people.
Speaking at a solar energy handover event organized by NMB Bank under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program at Manavsewa Ashram in Pokhara, Minister Thapa emphasized that the collaboration with the Ashram is a key policy initiative to realize the province’s vision of a street-people-free Gandaki.
He described Manavsewa Ashram as a hopeful center for lives seeking shelter, love, and dignity, and affirmed the government’s continued support in this humanitarian journey.
Minister Thapa shared that in the fiscal year 2082/83 BS , the Gandaki Province government has allocated a total of NPR 11.81 million for the management of various units of the Ashram:
NPR 7 million for Pokhara
NPR 1.26 million for Lamjung
NPR 1.45 million for Gorkha
NPR 2.1 million for Baglung
He also acknowledged that the existing monthly support of NPR 3,000 for the Ashram is insufficient and hinted at necessary adjustments in the future.
“Manavsewa Ashram is an extraordinary example of voluntary spirit, dedication, and service,” said Thapa. “Support like this solar energy handover will strengthen its impact. Adding energy to this service is like adding light to the heart of humanity.”
He further added that the Gandaki Province government is moving forward with the core principles of social justice, inclusive service, and sustainable energy promotion, and intends to strengthen such partnerships even more.
According to him, institutions like Manavsewa Ashram are not just partners of the government but also catalysts for social transformation.
