‘Gobar Ganesh’ Movie Announced, Filming Begins
Kathmandu — The Nepali feature film ‘Gobar Ganesh’ has officially begun filming after a special ceremony at Mhepi Temple, Kathmandu.
Directed by Marichman Shrestha (Balchi Dhurbe), the movie stars Barsha Siwakoti in the lead role alongside a strong cast including Marichman Shrestha, Kedar Ghimire (Magne Budha), Rabi Giri, Wilson Bikram Rai, Nirmal Sharma, Santosh Baniya and others.
The shoot started today in Kathmandu and will continue in Pokhara and other locations, with a schedule of about 35 days. The film is set to release on Magh 1 (15 January 2026).
This marks Shrestha’s debut as a feature film director, following his popularity from Meri Bassai and his successful TV serials Halka Ramailo and Juthe.
The film is presented by Balchi Dhurbe Films, with Taranath Nyaupane as Chief AD, Shibaram Shrestha as DOP, Yogesh Kaji Shah handling background score, and Bipin Malla as editor. OSR Digital is the digital partner, while distribution in Nepal will be handled by Shree Backtess Entertainment.
