‘Gobar Ganesh’ Receives Censor ‘Green Signal’; ‘Balchi Dhurbe’ to Shine on Maghe Sankranti

Kathmandu: The highly anticipated movie ‘Gobar Ganesh,’ which has been gaining significant buzz among audiences recently, has received a ‘green signal’ from the Censor Board. Scheduled for a nationwide release in cinema halls on Magh 1 (Maghe Sankranti), the Central Film Inspection Committee has granted the film a ‘U’ (Universal) certificate.

Directed by and starring comedian Marichman Shrestha (popularly known as ‘Balchi Dhurbe’), the film received its ‘U’ certificate on Monday. This rating means the movie is suitable for all age groups—from young children to the elderly—and can be enjoyed as a family.

The story primarily focuses on the struggles of a young man who moves to Kathmandu after failing in his studies. Based on the promotional materials released so far, the plot follows a village youth, perceived as academically weak, and his journey to change his life through hard work in the capital.

The production team is delighted with the feedback from the Censor Board, especially as the film’s posters, trailer, and songs have already generated significant hype. Director Marichman Shrestha shared that the board members gave positive reviews, stating that the film has been well-made.

Produced under the banner of Balchi Dhurbe Films, the movie features an ensemble cast including Balchi Dhurbe, Barsha Siwakoti, Binod Neupane, Padam Tamang, Nirmal Sharma, Laxminath Timalsina, Santhosh Baniya, Sandeep Lama, Maotse Gurung, Sita Devi Timalsina, Pujan Ghimire (Puku), Buddhi Tamang, Bishal Pahadi, Ramesh Budhathoki, and Swastika Lamichhane.

The technical team includes Taranath Neupane as Chief Assistant Director, Yogesh Kazi Shah for the Background Music (BGM), Shankar Pandey for Production, Shivaram Shrestha as Director of Photography (DOP), and Bipin Malla for Editing.

Tauwa Studio handled the publicity design, while OSR Digital is the digital partner. In Nepal, the film is being distributed by Shree Backtesh Entertainment.
