'Gobar Ganesh' Earns Over 11 Million in 9 Days
Kathmandu: The film 'Gobar Ganesh', written and directed by comedian Marichman Shrestha 'Balchhi Dhurbe', is doing encouraging business at the box office.
Released on Magh 1 (Maghe Sankranti), the film has successfully collected a gross of over 11 million rupees. The movie achieved this earning within 9 days (up to Friday).
Even in its second week, the film continues to receive enthusiastic support from audiences in theaters. In particular, due to strong positive word-of-mouth, the number of viewers watching 'Gobar Ganesh' is seen to be increasing.
As the word-of-mouth improved, the film's actors have been visiting various cinema halls to gather feedback.
Most viewers leaving the theater have praised it as 'a story of their own home.' Audiences are even getting emotional, stating that the daily struggles, dreams, and compulsions of a lower-middle-class Nepali family have been accurately portrayed on screen.
Produced under Balchhi Dhurbe Films, the movie features performances by Marichman Shrestha along with Barsha Siwakoti, Buddhi Tamang, Padam Tamang, Binod Neupane, Nirmal Sharma, Maotse Gurung, Sitadevi Timalsina, Pujan Ghimire (Puku), and Santosh Baniya, among others.
Marichman, who was previously popular on the television screen as 'Balchhi Dhurbe,' seems to be proving himself successful in both the roles of director and actor on the big screen, as indicated by the love the film is currently receiving.
Director and lead actor Marichman Shrestha says, "We tried to tell an honest story. When leaving the hall, viewers are saying, 'This is my own story.' For a filmmaker, this is the biggest award. We are confident that this love from the audience will further increase theater attendance in the coming days."
