Kulman Ghising Shares Painful Experience of Party Merger
Kathmandu – Ujyaalo Nepal Party Chairman Kulman Ghising expressed that the recent merger with the Rastriya Swatantra Party was extremely painful. Speaking at a program for greetings, tea, and interaction on Tuesday, he shared his experiences and feelings about the merger process.
He said, “Just a month after Ujyaalo Nepal Party was announced, we went into a merger with the Rastriya Swatantra Party, even before working together in practical terms. It happened suddenly. In the merger process, we tried to include everyone’s feelings. It was extremely painful. Those twelve days were very tough.”
According to Ghising, the Ujyaalo Nepal Party was announced following the Zen Z movement with the thought of uniting with new forces. Soon after, the merger process with the Rastriya Swatantra Party began.
He added, “It was necessary to move to a unified stage rather than just working together. This process was very painful. Only after twelve days of long discussions were we able to ensure agreement and unity.”
Ghising said that Ujyaalo Nepal Party even gave up its proportional votes to support cooperation and unity. He clarified, “Even if we had any written or special requests, the only agreement was that one of us would be Prime Minister and one would be Party Chairman. We did not ask for anything more than that.”
He also shared that meeting party members separately at different stages made the merger process more challenging. In the end, he recalled, even as an ordinary member, he managed to finalize the merger.
The merger between Ujyaalo Nepal Party and Rastriya Swatantra Party is expected to affect new political dynamics and play an important role in upcoming elections and party activities.
