Kulman Ghising Begins Election Campaign via Kamala Bridge
Siraha. Kulman Ghising, Chairman of the Ujyalo Nepal Party, set out on an election campaign starting Thursday via the Kamala Bridge, which connects Siraha and Dhanusha. Ghising, who is also a former Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development, crossed into Siraha from a site where temporary passage has been arranged by placing hume pipes in the river area.
Party leaders, workers, and locals welcomed him at the Kamala Bridge. With the construction of a temporary diversion on the Kamala River, located on the Siraha-Dhanusha border under the Postal Highway—considered the lifeline of Terai-Madhesh—the years-long problems faced by citizens are moving toward a resolution.
For 14 years, the lack of a bridge forced local residents to undertake risky journeys, while vehicles were required to use long alternative routes. During his tenure as Physical Infrastructure Minister, Ghising conducted an on-site inspection of the Kamala Bridge on Mangsir 5 last year.
After witnessing the hardship and risks caused by the unfinished bridge, he instructed relevant agencies to arrange temporary passage by placing hume pipes in the river area and initiated the process for constructing a temporary diversion. Ghising expressed his happiness at being able to cross the Kamala River, even if through a temporary arrangement.
Additionally, he observed the remaining work being carried out on the 469-meter-long Kamala Bridge, which has been left incomplete for 14 years. During his visit, he has scheduled programs to meet with party candidates, workers, and voters in Dhanusha, Siraha, and Saptari districts.
