Garbage Flow Resumes as Minister Ghising Makes 15-Day Commitment to Locals

Kathmandu. Minister of Urban Development, Kulman Ghising, has committed to fulfill the demands of the local residents and representatives of Bancharedanda within 15 days.

After Minister Ghising committed to fulfilling all agreements made to date within 15 days in a meeting with the local residents and representatives of Kakani, an agreement was reached to allow the dumping of garbage.

Visiting the Bancharedanda landfill site for inspection, Minister Ghising stated that waste is a resource and should be managed from the household level by everyone, taking initiatives to convert it into money.

He said, "Garbage is not waste; it is a resource, it is money. We need to move forward on how to convert it into money. Every house must manage the waste as soon as it is generated, and all citizens need to move towards a solution on how to eliminate all pollution."

Stating that the problem of Bancharedanda is linked to the court, he said that the court and the government must pave the way for local bodies.

"Many issues here are linked to the court. There are also matters that have reached the court and are stuck in a deadlock. Such matters should not remain in a deadlock. The court must look into it. The government must look into it.

The local body must look into it," he said. Minister Ghising, along with Chief Administrative Officer of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Saroj Guragain, and Head of the Environment Department Sarita Rai, among others, had reached Bancharedanda on Sunday morning.
