Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa's Address in Kaski
Kaski. Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has stated that as the country is currently caught in a whirlwind of extreme despair and distrust, there is a need for a power that can stabilize the nation.
Addressing a gathering of Congress Kaski, he said that instead of spreading provocation, the Congress must play the role of a force that provides a way out for the country through patience. Noting that there is deep anger among citizens and extreme distrust toward state mechanisms in society today, he emphasized the need for a responsible political force in such a sensitive situation.
"The country needs a power that can handle it right now. Anyone can start a fire, but it takes patience and capability to extinguish it. We must possess that strength," he said. "Anyone can spread provocation, but we need a force that practices the politics of awareness. That is the Congress. We will manage it; we will handle it." President Thapa stated that there is deep dissatisfaction among citizens and that they must be answered through reforms in the coming days.
"There is anger among the citizens. That anger is deep. There is extreme distrust toward state institutions, the constitution, the courts, political parties, and leadership," he added. "As this distrust grows, the entire country seems to have lost its self-confidence. There is a great clamor in society; a fire is burning within. At this time, it is the responsibility of the Nepali Congress party to handle this."
He argued that corruption is the main root of the despair seen in the country. "If you ask who Nepal's biggest enemy is, citizens will say 'corruption.' The biggest warrior against corruption is the transformed Nepali Congress," he said. "Every leader, from head to tail, has come with a resolve. Just as we pulled Nepal out of the quagmire of violence yesterday, we will now pull it out of the quagmire of corruption." He urged party leaders and workers to go door-to-door with the message that the Congress will handle and improve the country.
