'Film Journalist: From History to Present' Launched
Kathmandu. The book, ‘Film Journalist: From History to Present’ (Chalchitra Patrakar: Itihas Dekhi Bartaman Samma), which depicts and analyzes the history of Nepali film journalism up to the present day, has been launched. The book, prepared with the support of the Film Development Board, was launched at a program held in the Board's auditorium.
The book, published by the Film Journalists Association, was collectively unveiled by Dinesh Raj Dahal (DC), Chairman of the Film Development Board; Mohan Niroula, President of the Film Artists Association; Narayan Pradhan, President of the Stunt Artists Association; Nawal Khadka, President of the Producers Association; Pushkar Lama, President of the Nepal Film Technicians Association; Janak Karki, President of the Nepal Film Dance Association; Narendra Maharjan, President of the Film Association; Samir Balamee, President of the Film Journalists Association; former presidents Shantipriya and Bidur Giri; artist Kedar Ghimire; litterateur Dr. Nabaraj Lamsal; and RSS Senior Correspondent Prakash Silwal.
Board Chairman DC emphasized the significant role of film journalism in the development of Nepali cinema, stressing that investigative journalism should find a place in film reporting.
Samir Balamee, President of the Journalists Association, stated that the association is actively working to purify and professionalize film journalism and encourage the participation of the new generation.
The program included a discussion (ideation/brainstorming) on investigative journalism in film reporting among Board Chairman DC, Artists Association President Niroula, and journalists Shantipriya, Dhurba Lamsal, Madan Rijal, and Raghunath Sapkota.
During the discussion, film journalists emphasized the need for independent reporting according to the principles of journalism, rather than acting as mere publicists for a specific film.
