Grenade Blast Kills Army Corporal, Wounds Captain During Training
One soldier has been killed and another injured when a grenade exploded during a military training exercise.
The deceased has been identified as Nepal Army Corporal Himal Bikram Bista, while the injured is Captain Himraj Joshi. They were injured when a grenade went off during a firing practice session on Thursday morning in the Jalpa Community Forest area, located in Mohanyal Rural Municipality-7 of Kailali.
Bista, who was critically injured, passed away at around 12:00 PM while undergoing treatment at Lalratna Hospital in Lamki. Meanwhile, the injured Captain Joshi has been airlifted to Kathmandu via helicopter for further medical treatment, according to Nepal Army sources.
It is reported that Bista sustained critical injuries during the detonation of the grenade, while Joshi, who was standing nearby, was hit by shrapnel.
